Amber Joy Patton

Amber Joy Patton, age 34, passed away on September 20th, 2020 in Chandler, Arizona under very tragic circumstances. Amber was a victim of a random and violent robbery and murder. Amber was born in Saint Joseph, Michigan on June 24, 1986 and spent her early years in Stanley, Wisconsin prior to moving to Casa Grande, Arizona for elementary school. Amber was 2004 honors graduate of Casa Grande Union High School and attended Central Arizona College on a scholarship before joining the US Army like her mother before her. She enlisted on January 9th, 2008 and remained in continuous honorable active service until November 22nd, 2011. Her service included a year in Iraq in a designated imminent danger zone. Her military awards include: Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Marksmanship Qualification Badge - Sharpshooter with Rifle. Upon her death she was awarded a certificate from the president of United States honoring the memory of her by a grateful nation in recognition of devoted and selfless consecration to the service of our country in the Armed Forces of The United States. While Amber defined herself by her proud service of her country, to her family and friends she was so much more. She was beautiful, intelligent, feisty, and outspoken. She would do anything for anyone and always lit up the room with her smile and sense of humor, even while struggling with the PTSD she carried with her after her time serving in Iraq. She loved her family deeply, wanted to adopt every animal she saw, and play with every child she came across. Amber had a fascination with wolves and was a true die-hard Green Bay Packer fan. One of her best memories was of her grandmother Mary Suchla taking her to the carnival at Independence Days when she was a little girl. She was known to have a loving, beautiful heart and for always wanting to help others. Amber wanted nothing more than to find her lost older brother, who was placed for adoption in 1980. Of special mention, Liz Bell and John Poor were long time parental figures to Amber and she deeply adored them. She very sadly leaves behind her dog Jack and her cat Tigger. Amber was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Raymond and Mary Suchla, Uncle Gary and Aunt Rose, paternal grandfather Billy Patton, Uncle Jody, and Uncle Clay. There will be a prayer service organized in due course. A military funeral with eventual burial in the military section of Saint Peter and Paul Cemetery, Independence, WI is planned in the future.
