Verna Klimek, 91, of Independence, died Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Gundersen Tri-County Care Center, Whitehall. Verna was born April 18, 1926 in Burnside Township, Trempealeau County, to Frank and Julia (Bautch) Marsolek. She married Everett Klimek on September 11, 1945 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. He died September 21, 2001. Verna worked at Club Midway for many years and then worked at Ashley Furniture in Arcadia until retiremenShe was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, its women’s organization and rosary society. Verna is survived by two sons, Jim and Ron Klimek, both of Independence and a sister, Agnes Hertzfeldt of Blair. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; daughter, Sharon “Shari” Klimek; five adult brothers, Ralph, Clifford, Peter, Alphonse and Marcel Marsolek and infant brother; three sisters, Celia Guza, Monica Przybilla and Julia Lyga. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Rev. Sebastian Kolodziejczyk officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Wednesday.
