Roxanne "Roxie" Severson

July 11, 1949 — July 30, 2021

Roxanne “Roxie” Severson, 72, formerly of Independence, died unexpectedly Friday, July 30, 2021. Roxie was born July 11th, 1949, in Maiden Rock, WI, to Earl and Marie (Wold) Larson. She married Ray Severson July 6th, 1968, at Chimney Rock Lutheran Church. She was an active member of Chimney Rock Lutheran Church. Roxie is survived by her husband Ray of Whitehall; two sons, Chris (Melissa) Severson of New York City, NY, and Matt (Tracie) Severson of Davidsonville, MD; five grandchildren, Georgia, Olivia, Sophia, Luke, and Hannah Severson; two brothers, Charlie (Deb) Larson of Mesa, AZ, and Jeff (Kathy) Larson of Hastings, MN. Roxie was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a devout Christian and always found a way to volunteer and help others. She was an expert lefse maker and cook, sharing these skills with her boys and grandchildren. She was a true matriarch – rising to the executive level in the corporate world while supporting the family farm, raising two rambunctious boys whom she helped guide into the corporate world, leading an active social calendar for the Severson and Larson families, and being a loving wife to Ray. She loved to travel and took full advantage of her boys’ adventures, from Hawaii, England, Switzerland to Italy. She also loved to escape the snow and travel south during the winter months as much as possible. Her grandchildren became the center of her life – never missing an opportunity to visit, call, text, or video chat. It will come to no surprise, to those who knew our mother well, she was having fun with grandchildren, riding motorcycle and spending time with family and friends the day she died. We will miss her beyond any words we can write here. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Steve and Larry Larson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Chimney Rock Lutheran Church, rural Strum, with Rev. Paul Tobiason officiating. Burial will be in the Severson Cemetery, rural Mondovi. The family requests that if anyone is so inclined, they donate to Chimney Rock Lutheran Church. Any funds received stay entirely with Chimney Rock Lutheran Church. http://www.chimneyrockchurch.org/ Visitation will be held at Edison Funeral Home in Independence on Thursday, from 5-8 p.m. and on Friday one hour prior to the services at the church. Online condolences may be offered at www.edisonfuneralhome.com To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Roxanne "Roxie" Severson, please visit our flower store.
