Roman J. Przybilla, 94, of Independence died Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Gundersen Health Center, La Crosse. Roman was born March 7, 1926 in Wickham Valley, Trempealeau County, to John and Elizabeth (Marsolek) Przybilla. He farmed with his brother, Ernest in Wickham Valley until retirement in 1981. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. Roman is survived by his brother, John Pyzybilla of Independence; sister, Loretta Palkowski of Independence; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ernest, Alphonse and Clarence Przybilla; sisters, Clara Dumback, Monica Schildnecht and Aurelia Bautch. Mass of Christian Burial (with COVID-19 guidelines) will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Rev. George Thayilkuzhithottu officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Communion + Per Diocese of La Crosse guidelines: If receiving communion requires you to pass someone in your pew not in your household, then everyone seated in the pew should come forward. If those coming forward are not receiving Communion, they can simply signal by crossing their arms or pass by without approaching the priest of deacon. + Maintain proper social distancing at the end of Mass and walking out of the church to the grave. + Exiting the church after Mass will be through the elevator addition only. + Maintain proper social distancing while at the graveside service. + At this time there will be no funeral luncheons served in the church.
