Robert (Bruce) Brandenburg, earlier known to some as "Jackson" or "Action Jackson," of Independence, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Hope Stay in Holmen. He was blessed with 72 years of life and leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Born on June 9, 1952, in Clintonville, WI, Bruce was the son of Eldon and Rosalind (Egan) Brandenburg. On April 28, 1984, he married Barbara A. Suchla at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and together they were blessed with four children. Barbara was his constant companion and source of joy. Bruce was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose will to live and zest for life touched the hearts of many.
A man who held his faith and family at the core of his life, Bruce had a wide range of passions. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan who took in many games with his friends and family. He also enjoyed various sports, including hunting-taking memorable trips with his brother Bill and friends to Montana, long-distance bicycling, and he found great pleasure in traveling all over the world. He loved Scotland above all, with his children growing up often hearing tales of "The Loch Ness Monster." Bruce's love for his job at the Post Office was matched only by his enthusiasm for bar league softball. Bruce's unfiltered statements, goofy sense of humor, and unwavering commitment to his loved ones will be profoundly missed. Most importantly, he treasured the time spent with his family, who were always at the center of his world.
Bruce is survived by his father: Eldon Brandenburg; siblings: John "Burke" Brandenburg, Bill (Lori) Brandenburg, and Kelli (Mark) Brandenburg-Brave; sons: Steven Brandenburg, Ryan (Rakwon Andrus) Brandenburg and Brett (Sydney) Brandenburg; and daughter, Lindsey (Ryan) Gilbertson. He was a proud and loving grandfather to his two grandchildren, Parker and Emryn, who brought so much loving energy to his life; mother-in-law: Betty Suchla; brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Margaret) Suchla, Bill (Rachael Ashley) Suchla, and Brad Johnson; sisters-in-law: Betsy Suchla-Lewis, Patricia Suchla, and Heather Wiltse; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bruce was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara; mother: Rosalind (Egan) Brandenburg; father-in-law Ernest Suchla; brothers-in-law Daniel Suchla, Steven Suchla, Richard Suchla, Ted Suchla, and James Lewis; sisters-in-law Jean Suchla and Kim Suchla; and nephew: Bradley Suchla.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Hope Stay Assisted Living and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care during Bruce's final months.
