Raymond “Bud” R. Manka, 89, of Elk Creek, WI, died Thursday, September 16, 2021 at his home. Bud was born January 4, 1932, on the home farm in Elk Creek, to John and Frances (Sluga) Manka. He married Catherine Wendricks on April 8, 1959, who preceded him in death in 2013. Bud loved to bake bread and was an avid gardener, canning many of the fruits and vegetables he grew. He enjoyed brewing beer and crafting wine, making and smoking his own sausage and baloney. He was a tinkerer and thinker. He was a member of the Local Carpenters Union, a master drywaller and served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1957. Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Davidson (Bruce Danielson) of Janesville, Frances Manka (Jeff Stendal) of Blair, a son, John (Julie) Manka of Eau Claire; grandchildren Jenny Manka (Sara Becker) of Holmen, Tammy Sanders of LaCrosse, Ben Sanders of LaCrosse, Jessi Manka (Nathan Martin) of Holmen, and Jeana Manka (Kyle Sylla) of Minneapolis, MN; great-grandsons Weston Gamroth, Ezra and Izaiah Martin of Holmen and special nephew Jim Jones of Kenosha and many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers Adolph, Lonnie (Eleanore), Edward (Rose), Ralph (Elaine) and John Manka; five sisters Helen Knudtson (George), Eleanore (Ken) Jones, Genevieve “Jean” Barca, Martha (Glen) Insteness and Gertrude (Frank) Bodnar; son, George DeRosch, special nephew, Kenny Manka; and companion, Mary Potts.
