Quintin Pronschinske

Quintin Pronschinske, 88, of Arcadia, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. Quintin was born January 21, 1929 in Fountain City to Alphonse and Agnes (Semling) Pronschinske. He married Marian Marsolek June 18, 1951 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. Quintin’s life began on the farm, and aside from family, farming was what remained most central in his life. Although he and Marian spent the beginning of their marriage in Cudahy, Quintin would always return to his parents’ farm in the spring to help with planting and calving. Short years later, Quintin and Marian would move back to Arcadia to own a farm of their own. Through the years, Quintin showed immense dedication to his farm which did not go unnoticed as he received FFA Outstanding Area Farmer in 1980. Farming wasn’t easy, but the support of community helped keep the farm going. This was especially true the year that there was a barn fire at Quintin and Marian’s farm and the help of kind friends and neighbors is still fondly remembered and greatly appreciated. During good times and bad times, Quintin was a man of great faith who attended Mass on Sunday with his family, In his church community, Quintin volunteered as both an usher and a Eucharistic minister and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. When Quintin and Marian weren’t working they often liked to go square dancing. Later on the couple also danced polka and were able to attend twenty years of Polka Fest at the Rochester Kahler Hotel. Quintin is survived by his wife, Marian Pronschinske of Arcadia; six children, Dave (Karen) Pronschinske of Dodge, Mary J. (Curt) Rotering of Waumandee, Kenny (Marj) Pronschinske of Ogden, Utah, Rollie (Roxie) Pronschinske of Arcadia, Patti (Jeff) Sonsalla of Galesville and Anita (Eric) Knutson of Onalaska; three brothers, Clarence (Beverly) Pronschinske of Arcadia, Linus (Phyllis) Pronschinske of Independence and Francis (Bernice) Pronschinske of Arcadia; two sisters, Toni Smieja of Mankato, Minn., and Lois Klimek-Deeren of Ettrick; brother-in-law, Linus “Red” Soppa of St. Charles, Minn.; sister-in-law, Lois Pronschinske of Independence; 19 grandchildren,16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Yapp; four sisters, Ermina Pronschinske, Dorothy Schaub, Bea Wozney and Mary Lou “Pooch” Soppa; two brothers, Aaron and Cletus Pronschinske. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Saturday.
