Marcel M. Dejno, 85, of Independence, died Friday, January 19, 2018 at Dove Healthcare in Osseo. Marcel was born October 28, 1932, in Independence, to Michael and Frances (Blaha) Dejno. Marcel served in the U.S. Army during the Korea Conflict. He worked at Mobil Oil in Milwaukee and Taylor, Mich. until retirement in 1990. He then moved to Independence and worked at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church as a caretaker of the cemetery and later worked as a custodian at Western Technical College. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Marcel is survived by three children, Michael (Mary Schroeder) Dejno of Mayville, Nancy (Steve) Klabunde of Menomonee Falls and David (Kim Kasten) Dejno of Horicon; four brothers, Jerome Dejno of Milwaukee, Ronald (Pat) Dejno of New Berlin, Anthony (Kay) Dejno of Greensboro, Ga. and Michael (Jane) Dejno of Hudson; three sisters, Darlene Jelen-Sluga of Arcadia, Mary Ann (Delbert) Bloor of Muskego, Wis. and Susan (Hensel) Lee of New Berlin, Wis.; five grandchildren, Rachel, Teddy, Nikki, Alex and Mallory Dejno; one great-grandson, Lennon Dejno. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2018 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Friday.
