Leonard was born on March 21, 1931, in rural Strum, to Walter and Annie (Pawelke) Robinson. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1953, and served dutifully until his honorable discharge in 1955. Leonard worked briefly for Presto Industries before deciding to purchase his own farm in rural Hale. In his later years, Leonard was employed with Midwest Real Estate in Osseo; a job he loved and often commented that he wished he would have started it sooner. Leonard was active all of his life and enjoyed hunting, partaking in hunting trips out west and Alaska, trout and salmon fishing, trapping, riding motorcycle and snowmobiles, traveling and playing cards. He was a member of the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, the Rod and Gun Clubs in Osseo and Whitehall/Pigeon, and the Pleasantville Drift Busters Snowmobile Club.
Leonard is survived by his children: Dave (Sharon) Robinson of Whitehall and Rhonda (Ken) Koval of Independence; grandchildren: Rachael (Josh) Julson, Amber (Travis Sonnentag) Robinson, Derek (Andrea) Robinson, Kyle (Kaili) Koval, and Collin (Courtney Lillie) Koval; great-grandchildren: Eli, Lily, Emma Robinson and Camden Koval; brother-in-law: David Erickson; sister-in-law: Theresa Dabelstein; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
