Irene Symicek, 93, of Independence, died Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Trempealeau County Health Care Center, Whitehall. Irene was born August 10, 1924 in Burnside Township, Trempealeau County, to John and Frances (Miemietz) Klimek. She married Gregory Symicek May 24, 1944 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. He died August 4, 2000. Irene was a cook for most of her life. She cooked at the Coffee Shop, owned and operated East End Café and cooked at the Whitehall Country Club. She cooked for many years at Independence High School until retirement. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and its women’s organization. Irene is survived by three sons, Daniel (Charlotte) Symicek of Cudahy, Gary (Gloria) Symicek of South Milwaukee and Randy “Bushy” (Jean) Symicek of Independence; one sister, Bernice Skroch of Independence; four grandchildren, Kelly Symicek, Kristi (Glen) Drapes, Dallas (Amber) Symicek and Tiffany (Ryan) Bautch; seven great-grandchildren, Alison and Danielle Drapes, Harper, Jackson and June Symicek and Bentley and Zoey Bautch; a sister-in-law, Betty Klimek of Independence and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers, Roman, Pete, Paul and Clarence Klimek. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass at the church on Saturday.
