Harold R. Marchinek, 79, of rural Independence, died Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Wisconsin Veteran’s Home At King, Wisconsin. Harold was born April 14, 1941 in Trempealeau County to Frank and Anna (Filla) Marchinek. Harold lived most of his life in Poker Coulee and was a self-employed logger. He traveled many places to hear polka bands. Until recently, he kept up on current events and was still reading Hardwood Market Reports and Loggers Shopper. Harold served in the U. S. Army in Viet Nam. Harold is survived by cousins and friends, including special friend, Margaret McKane. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services (with COVID-19 guidelines) will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Edison Funeral Home, Independence. Burial will be in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic cemetery. Visitation (with COVID-19 guidelines) will be one hour prior to services. Military rites will be conducted by Sura-Wiersgalla American Legion Post 186.
