Edward G. Brixen, 93, of Strum, died Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Strum Area Health and Rehabilitation. Eddie was born September 16, 1924 in Gilmanton, to Hugo and Cora (Knesley) Brixen. He married Norma Johnson June 14, 1943 at Pigeon Falls Lutheran Church. She died April 27, 2003. He farmed all his life in the Town of Unity. He was a breeder of registered jersey cattle for 54 years. Eddie was Town Assessor, Clerk of Brick River View School, President of Eleva-Strum School Board and Osseo Lutheran Church Council member. He worked as a Sales Specialist, Acting District Director and as an agent for Federal Crop Insurance. He was a 4-H Leader and loved to race Artic Cat Snowmobiles. Survivors include his daughter, Nancy (C. Keith) Edison of Independence and six grandchildren, Todd (Teresa) Brixen, Tony (Jenny) Brixen, Tracy (Pat) Holstad, Teresa (Matt Wood) Edison, Craig (Gina) Edison and Kevin Edison; ten great-grandchildren, Jacob (Tammy) Gregory, Tim Kunshier, Tyler, Makayla and Hunter Brixen, Qortnee, Qwinton and Kodee (Bekky) Dunham, Lydia and Eleanor Edison; nieces and nephews. Eddie was preceded in death by his wife; two sons, S. Sgt. Gary Brixen and Edward (Butch) Brixen Jr.; two brothers, Hugo (Mabel) Brixen and Herbert (Helma) Brixen; sister, Zelda (David) Wingad; two great-grandsons, Logan and Gary Brixen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Strum with burial in Osseo Cemetery, rural Osseo. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
