Charles “Chuck” Schultz, 84, of Independence, died Friday, October 26, 2018 at his home. Chuck was born May 21, 1934 in Milwaukee, to Erwin and Leola (Boyce) Schultz. He married Marilyn R. Crego on November 22, 1958 in Milwaukee. He graduated from UW-Milwaukee and received his master’s degree from UW-Oshkosh. He was a special education teacher in Milwaukee, West Bend and 18 years in Berlin. He was a guidance counselor in the Independence School District until retirement. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Chuck was in the US Naval Reserve and Hospital Corps. He was a US Army Reserve Drill Sergeant and Tank Commander. He then worked as a training brigade instructor at the USAR School. He served over 27 years in the military. He was an EMT in Berlin. He was an ADRC volunteer driver and worked for the Trempealeau County Mediation Service for over 20 years. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of Independence; two sons, David L. (Nancy) Schultz of Ames, Iowa and Douglas A. Schultz of Eau Claire; two grandchildren, Sophia and Simon Schultz and a brother, Donald Schultz of Orlando, Fla. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Erwin and Russell Schultz and a sister, Georgene (McCoy) Schultz. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Whitehall, with Rev. Dr. Gary G. Paul officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
