Brian John Kulig, 60, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Winona, MN on October 11th, 2024. He was the son of Al and Ginny Wright Kulig and was born on St. Patrick's Day, 1964. He grew up in Independence, WI along with his four siblings where he attended Saints Peter and Paul (SSPP) Catholic grade school and was a member of SSPP parish. He graduated from Independence High School and earned a degree in Mechanical Drafting and Design from Western Wisconsin Technical Institute, La Crosse.
Brian worked as a CAD Designer for 38 years at Winona area businesses including Fiberite and Celanese (Ticona). Brian inherited his father's athleticism and loved playing basketball and tennis competitively and keeping in shape by jogging. His greatest passion was music. He taught himself how to play the drums, bass, guitar, and keyboard and was in 4 different bands over the years. An excellent tunesmith, Brian composed, recorded, and mixed his own songs as well as those he collaborated on with close friends. He loved all animals-especially cats-and the beauty of nature.
As our middle child, Brian was the heart of the family, caring for us in ways we will never forget. His quick-witted sense of humor brought loads of laughter to our family and those who knew him well and will be sorely missed. Brian's empathy was immeasurable; he was always so generous - not only to our family but through his acts of charity. In his honor, memorials may be given to the Winona Area Humane Society and Habitat for Humanity, two of his favorite causes.
Brian will be joining his father, Al Kulig and his sister, Kristin Kulig who passed before him.
His surviving immediate family include his mother, Ginny Kulig; his siblings, Kevin (Kelli Rogers), Shaun (Beth Cobus), and Kimary Kulig (husband, Omar Vargas), his beloved goddaughter and niece, Sydney Kulig; his beloved nephew, Layne Kulig; and his precious cat, Goldie. The family extends deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the Zanzig family - Adam, Stacey, and Amelia for being such wonderful and caring friends to our dear Brian.
