Andrew Dejno

October 26, 1940 — October 9, 2024

Andrew R Dejno Jr, 83, of Independence, completed his earthly journey on October 9, 2024.

Andy was born on October 26, 1940 in Independence WI to Andrew J. and Monica (Pientok) Dejno. Andy grew up on the family farm, one of five children. He began his education at Cripp's rural school, attended S.S. Peter & Paul grade school, and graduated from Independence High School in 1959. In the fall of 1960, in pursuit of his future bride, he moved to Kenosha, WI. While there, he attended Gateway Technical College studying welding and worked at American Motors for 9 years. Andy met the love of his life, Mary Rosenbaum, and they were united in marriage on September 15,1962 at St James Catholic Church in Kenosha.

In 1966 they moved back to Independence, joining his parents in the family farming operation. Andy's insight, perseverance, dedication, integrity, hard-work and family focus led to the growth of the operation and transition to Dejno Acres in 1982. These ideals continued to grow and has led to a continuing legacy seen today in the 5th generation family operation.

Andy's love for agriculture and his commitment to serving others was evident in everything he did. Andy served on numerous agricultural and cooperative governing boards. He was dedicated to his Church and a proud, active and lifetime Knights of Columbus member, complete with 4th Degree and a member of the Rosary Society. When not on the farm, Andy could be found browsing the aisles of farm supply stores, in search of treasures for his next innovative project or repair...always wrapping up that trip with a stop at Culvers.

Andy is survived by Mary, his loving wife of 62 years, and family including his children, Brad (Jackie), Greg (Jana), Marilyn (Tom), Steve (Carol), Butch (Monica), and Jack (Sue); grandchildren, Sydney, Shauna, Kassidi, Macy, Nick, Mitch, Kenzie, Bryce (Siraya), Max, Alexis (Codey), Jake (Bethany), Amber (Andrew), Sam (Kyle), Matt, and Katie (Jason); great-grandchildren, Carmen, Logan, Bryson, Nolan, Weston, and Carson; sisters, Mary (Gary), Ruth (Dan), and Bernadette; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and countless cousins.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty; in-laws, Orin, Bob, Stu, Larry, and Chris.
