Agnes Back

INDEPENDENCE – Agnes Back, 86, of Independence, died Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Tri-County Memorial Nursing Home, Whitehall. Agnes was born June 28, 1923, in Chimney Rock Township, Trempealeau County, to August and Mary (Pierzina) Kwosek. She married Lyle Back on June 9, 1941 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. He died December 9, 1971. The couple farmed in Chimney Rock Township and Agnes also worked at Doughboy Industries in Eleva. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. Survivors include her two daughters, Judy (Daniel) Waldera of Strum and Mary (Loren) Ziegler of Galesville; a son, Douglas (Susan) Back of Independence; a brother, Thomas Kwosek of St. Charles, Ill.; a sister, Teckla (Ardell) Melby of Whitehall; nine grandchildren, Jeffrey (Tammy), Jason (Sue), Jamie (Heather) and Tyler Back, Dawn (Todd) Skovbroten, Nicole (Jay) Beebe, Ryan (Elizabeth) and Michael (special friend, Tracy LaSarge) Ziegler, Michelle (Vincent) Pontius and 19 great-grandchildren. Agnes was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Robert and Donald Back; four sisters, Julia Kulig, Helen Kwosek, Clara Abrahamson and Sophie Halverson and a brother, John Kwosek. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 22, 2010 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Rev. David C. Kunz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 8-10 a.m. Monday at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, where there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, followed by a rosary.
