Eileen Halama

Eileen Halama, 80, of Independence, died Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Gundersen Tri-County Hospital and Clinics, Whitehall. Eileen was born May 14, 1936, in Arcadia, to Ben and Angeline (Prokop) Waldera. She married Donald A. Halama April 27, 1957 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. The couple farmed in Hale Township until they moved to Independence in 1986. Eileen worked as a home healthcare provider for many years. She loved her family, playing cards with friends, walking, traveling and taking bus trips. She looked forward to visiting with her coffee clutch group at the Coffee Pot Café. She belonged to the Liberty Belles Red Hats. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, its women’s organization and rosary society. Eileen is survived by her husband, Donald of Independence; three sons, Ricardo (Mary), Scott (Laurie) and Todd (Sue) all of Independence, a daughter Gay (Hank) Allworden of Roseville, Minn.,; two brothers, Bill (Janet) Waldera of Whitehall and Tom Waldera of Independence; a sister, Sue (Bob) Bookman of Apple Valley, Minn.; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Saturday.
