Joseph "Donny" Mueller

Joseph “Donny” Mueller, 73, of Strum, died Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at the Tomah VA Medical Center, from lung cancer, surrounded by family and friends. Donny was born August 4, 1943 in Montana Township, Buffalo County, to Joseph and Monica (Kupka) Mueller. He graduated eighth grade from SS. Peter & Paul Catholic School and from Independence High School in 1961. He served in the U. S. Army from 1965 to 1967. He was a member of the American Legion. He married Janet Waldera on November 4, 1967. They later divorced. Donny worked at National Presto Industries for many years before working at Elk Creek Feed Mill. He retired from Kings Valley in 2006. Donny enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and friends. He enjoyed camping, meeting at the local pub for coffee and watching westerns. Survivors include four children, Vicki (special friend Curt Christianson) Gore of Eleva, Carrie (special friend Justin Felce) Mueller of Pulaski, Tenn., Jamie (special friend Jill Minshall) Mueller of Osseo and Leslie (Amy) Mueller of Strum; a sister, Mary Ann Johnson of Harmony, Minn.; a brother, Edward (Deborah) Mueller of Independence; eight grandchildren, Billy Gore IV, Cameron Ashwell, Brandon Herold, Eric Mueller, Brittany Minshall, Brooklyn Mueller, Breanna Mueller and Courtney Ashwell; three great-grandchildren, Elliot, Brayden and Easton; nieces, nephews and many cousins. Donny was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, brother-in-law, Rodney Johnson, niece, Cindy Johnson, and close friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. Burial, with military honors, will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Wednesday.
