Gordon “Gordie” J. Twerberg, 61, of Cleburne, TX, formerly of Strum, WI passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at his home.
He was born Oct. 22, 1954, in Mondovi, WI, to Joel and Rebecca (Enger) Twerberg.
Gordie grew up in rural, Strum and attended Eleva-Strum Schools. In 1975 Gordie married his loving wife, Debbie (Steig). Gordie and his wife moved to Texas in 1982 to follow his passion and career in farming and agriculture.
Gordie enjoyed living life full with traveling, snowmobiling, fishing, football, Nascar, politics, classic country music, and spoiling animals – especially his dogs. Most of all, Gordie loved and cherished his family and friends – but he felt becoming a grandfather was his greatest accomplishment. He was a generous man, who lived to help others.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Twerberg of Cleburne, TX; daughter, Kristen and husband Jerod Crawford of Godley, TX; brothers and sisters, Joan Smedberg, Barbara (Larry) McGee, Joel (Sue) Twerberg, Robert Twerberg, Clair (Linda) Twerberg, and Orrin Twerberg; one grandson, Landry Crawford, and a second grandchild due in September; numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, William Smedberg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2016, at Chimney Rock Lutheran Church, rural Strum, with Rev. Paul Tobiason officiating. Burial will be in the Chimney Rock cemetery.
Friends and family may call from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
