Arnold F. Maliszewski, 95, formerly of Arcadia, died Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Grand View Care Center, Blair.
Arnold was born February 18, 1921 in Pine Creek, Trempealeau County, to Frank and Pauline (Berzinski) Maliszewski. He married Marie Walsky on June 5, 1945 in St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Trempealeau. They were happily married for 71 years.
Arnold attended school in Pine Creek and Winona Cotter High School and became a successful dairy farmer in rural Arcadia. He had a strong belief in being a good steward of the land. He raised six children who admired his work ethic and faith. Arnold served as a board member for the Trempealeau County Health Care Center, Catholic Order of Foresters and Knights of Columbus. He was an avid Packer and Badger fan especially when watching them with family members. Arnold's passion for the land and the community he served led him to develop agricultural scholarships and volunteering on civic committees.
Arnold is survived by his wife, Marie; five loving children, Bill (Ginger) Maliszewski of Independence, Rick (Nancy) Maliszewski of Monroe, Doreen (Rich) Olson of Independence, Ed Maliszewski of Arcadia and Linda (Greg) Mikunda of Barron; son-in-law, Knox (Chris) Smith III of Loveland, Ohio; 22 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Arnold was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Smith; daughter-in-law, Debra Maliszewski; four brothers and two sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2016 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, rural Arcadia.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
The church parking lot may not be available on Monday. Access will be available on the cemetery road from Highway 121, the driveway north of the school or parking on the street
