Irene K. Kampa

Irene K. Kampa, 84, of Independence, died Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Franciscan Medical Center, La Crosse. Irene was born May 6, 1931 in Independence, to Edmund and Elizabeth (Symicek) Sura. She married Laury Kampa May 30, 1955 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. Survivors include two children, Terry (Jeff) Holsen of Kohler, Wis., and Tammy (Tom) Filla of Fontana, Calif.; brother, Alphonse Sura of Independence; five grandchildren, Justin (Geneviéve) Holsen and Jordan Holsen, Dr. Jackie Filla, Chad (Candace) Filla and Jennifer Filla; and three great-grandchildren, Jolene and Juliette Holsen and Brielle Filla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laury (August 12, 2009). Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
