Donald R. Wolfe, 82, of Independence, died Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Grandview Care Center, Blair.
Donald was born October 25, 1933 in Burnside Township, Trempealeau County to Herman and Catherine (Killian) Wolfe. He married Yvonne Carter November 6, 1954 in Orting, Wash. They later divorced.
He was a self-employed carpenter and farmed on Silver Fox Ridge in Trempealeau County. He had a passion for John Deere tractors along with his sons and grandsons.
Donald served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Sura-Wiersgalla American Legion Post 186 and St. Michael’s Catholic Church, North Creek.
Survivors include seven children, David (Betty) Wolfe of Arcadia, Lenice (Greg) Pronschinske of Independence, Sandra (Tom) Jindrick of Hillsboro, Dale (Marie) Wolfe of Hixton, Charlene (Jim) Schank of Bayfield, Colo., Annette (Scott) Blanchard of Mequon and Douglas (Sandy) Wolfe of Mazomanie; sister, Jean (Rodney) Moen of Whitehall; brother, Leonard (Bernice) Wolfe of Green Bay; 22 grandchildren, Dean, Brenda, Dennis, Bridget, Darin, Damian, Tracy, Kelly, Michael, Christopher, Benjamin, Hunter, Cooper, Derek, Alexis, Ivy, Zachary, Claire, Carter, Kourtney, Austin and Abigail; 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Jerome and two sisters, Evelyn Wolfe and Bernelle Adamczyk.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 9, 2015 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic School Gymnasium. Burial, with military rites, will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, North Creek.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the school on Monday.
