Alice Skroch

Alice Skroch, 83, of Independence, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Grandview Care Center, Blair. Alice was born July 25, 1932, Montana Township, Buffalo County, to Peter and Anna (Faber) Konter. She married Clifford P. Skroch October 11, 1948 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. He died April 15, 1991. The couple farmed in Traverse Valley, rural Independence, until 1981 and then moved to Independence. Alice was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, its women's organization and rosary society. Survivors include four sons, Anthony (Linda) of Whitehall, Peter (Karen) of Arcadia, Adrian (Cleo) of Independence and Timothy (Teri) of Independence; 12 grandchildren, Kimberly (Scott) Glaser, Cassandra Schneider, Michael, Kasha, Bradley, Jade, Jeremy (Julie) and Larissa Skroch, Lindsey and Johnathan Gooden and Nicole and Nathan Skroch and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and brother, George Konter and a great-grandson, Grayson Skroch. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic School Gymnasium. Burial will be in the SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the school on Saturday.
