Richard F. Stevens, 78, of Independence, died Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Gundersen Tri-County Hospital and Clinic, Whitehall surrounded by family and friends.
Richard was born December 2, 1936 in Cleveland Township, Chippewa County, to Frank and Rosie (Niesen) Stevens.
Richard retired after working 30 years at American Motors in Kenosha. He was also a self-employed cement contractor. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing and was an avid Packer fan.
Richard is survived by three children, Richard “Rick” (Jana) Stevens of Greenville, Texas, Scott (Sheri) Stevens of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., and Kim (Frank) Richards of Kenosha; two sisters, Sharry (Jim) Maxey of Kenosha and Sandy (Dale) Demers of Medford, Ore.; eight grandchildren, Jason, Megan, Dustin, Travis, Nate, Michael, Richard and Phillip; three great-grandchildren, Tucker, Gabriel and Alexander and beloved companion, Agnes Dubiel of Independence and her family. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by wives, LaDonna E. Bleske Stevens and Joyce B. Hertzfeldt Stevens and a sister, Elaine Wasurick.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in the Ettrick Public Cemetery, rural Ettrick.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday, February 28, 2015.
