Gene Sosalla

Gene Sosalla., 85, of Independence, died Friday, February 13, 2015 at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse. Gene was born April 30, 1929 in Lincoln Township, Trempealeau County, to Joseph and Victoria (Marsolek) Sosalla. He married Lucille Bautch January 8, 1952 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. Gene was an avid outdoorsman and a huge New York Yankee fan. He worked 37 years with Operating Engineers 139 and was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Gene is survived by the love of his life of 63 years wife, Lucille of Independence; three children, Sandie (Bob) Gunderson of Independence, Gary (Beth) Sosalla of Holmen and Susan (Pat) Bolger of Oconomowoc; sister Angie Shoenberger of Alma; five grandchildren, Robbie (Lindsay) Gunderson, Stacie (Don) Hogan, Chase (Holly) and Brooke Sosalla and Hunter Bolger. Also four great-grandchildren, Morgan, Kloe, Gunner and Croix. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Sura-Wiersgalla American Legion Post 186. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
