Wayne P. Skroch Sr., 63, of Independence, died Friday, December 26, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. Wayne was born June 30, 1951 in Whitehall to Cyril and Gertrude (Suchla) Skroch. He married Kathryn Suchla October 20, 1973 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. Wayne worked at Uniroyal, was an auctioneer and a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, tractors, horse pulling and card playing. He was currently serving on the Independence City Council and the Trempealeau County Board. He served in the U. S. Navy and was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Wayne is survived by his wife, Kathryn; three sons, Wayne Jr. of Chippewa Falls and Rory and Derek, both at home; two grandchildren, Ashley and Jackson; three sisters, Yvonne Shepherd, Sonja (Richard) George and Joan Proch and two brothers, Giles (Jean) Skroch and Pat Skroch. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Barbara Parpart and Bonnie Skroch. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, followed by military rites conducted by Sura-Wiersgalla American Legion Post 186. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
