Dr. Duane H. Sackett, 86, of Peterborough, New Hampshire, formerly of Independence, Wisconsin died Friday, November 21, 2014 at RiverMead in Peterborough, New Hampshire.Dr. Sackett was born in Appleton, Wisconsin, on September 20, 1928 to Harvey and Marie (Mauthe) Sackett. He married Ruth Collins June 24, 1950 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Dr. Sackett was a life-long educator; working as a teacher, principal, superintendent and as a Temple University Professor Emeritus. He was a high school and collegiate sports official for 45 years. He traveled to 107 countries and did volunteer work. He was a member of American Association of School Administrators, CWAG and SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; five daughters, Kay Sackett (Jimmy Fitzgerald), Barbara Baker, Lynn Moseley (Bill Moseley), Rita Jones (Bob Jones) and Duann Kovach (Jim Kovach); ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Starr Sackett and Dawn Sackett; and one brother, David Sackett. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery in La Crosse. There will be no visitation.
