Marcel F. Kulig, 90, of Independence, died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Gundersen Tri-County Care Center, Whitehall. Marcel was born July 13, 1923, in Trempealeau County, to Bert and Clara (Rombalski) Kulig. He married Madlin Deml August 22, 1964 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Ladysmith. She died November 3, 2003. Marcel was a dairy farmer before owning and operating Kulig Farm Store and Route Service until retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, gardening, carpentry and volunteering in the community. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and rosary society. He is survived by his son, Mark (Cathy) Kulig of Fergus, Falls, Minn.; sister-in-law, Cindy Kulig; nephew, Jim Kulig both of Battle Creek Mich. and friend, Martha Bisek of Independence. He was preceded in death by his wife; sister, Rose Kulig and brothers, Philip and Peter Kulig. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2014 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
