Dennis R. Huff

Dennis R. Huff, 62, of rural Independence, died Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health System-La Crosse following a four-month battle with cancer. Dennis was born July 30, 1951 in Whitehall to Lawrence and Theresa (Rebarchek) Huff. He married Kari Thronson September 29, 1979 at Elk Creek Lutheran Church. They later divorced. Dennis graduated from Independence High School in 1969. He farmed in rural Independence. He enjoyed the outdoors, the farming seasons and loved to “road-trip” in the area. He loved tractors, especially International/Case IH. He was the “potato masher” at St. John’s Fall Festival for many years. His family was important to him. He is survived by three children, Adam Huff of Independence, Christina (Casey) O’Connell of Houston, Minn. and Garrett Huff of Wessington Springs, S. D.; mother, Theresa Huff of Independence; brother, Robert (Nancy) Huff of Independence; sister, Sandra Huff of Whitehall and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, followed by a rosary, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating.
