Edmund "Cy" Getts

Edmund “Cy” Getts, 72, of Whitehall, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Gundersen Tri-County Care Center, Whitehall. Cy was born on April 2, 1942, in Whitehall, to Henry Allan and Clara (Maule) Getts.  He married Kim Getts November 5, 1974 in San Diego, Calif. He served in the US Navy from 1960 to 1980.  After retirement, he moved to Whitehall and raised his two sons with his wife, Kim.  He enjoyed fishing, golfing, gambling and having a drink with his friends. Cy was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church and Hutchins-Stendahl American Legion Post 191. He is survived by his two sons, Todd (Leah) Getts of Locust Grove, Okla. and Cyrus (Debra) Getts of Boca Raton, Fla.; a sister, Mary Ellen Getts of Maplewood, Minn.; a grandson, Edmund Francis Getts and a niece, Gwen (Bob) Johnson of Rush City, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Whitehall, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Whitehall.     Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.   To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Edmund "Cy" Getts, please visit our flower store.
