Patricia "Pat" Waldera, 88, of Independence, died Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Gundersen Tri-County Care Center, Whitehall.
Pat was born November 19, 1925 in Trempealeau County, to Peter P. and Susan (Mlynek) Kowahl. She married Marcell C. Waldera June 9, 1947 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He died April 28, 2009.
Pat cooked at Elk Creek School and worked at Gopher Glove in Independence until retirement. She loved baking, canning and sewing. She was a wonderful seamstress and loved to garden. She also quilted at church. Pat always put others before herself.
She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, its Women's Organization and Rosary Society.
Pat is survived by her three children, Daniel (Judy) Waldera of Strum, David (Joyce) Waldera of Hudson and JoAnn Waldera of Independence; three sisters-in-law, Esther Kowahl of Trempealeau, Delores (Jack) Paszkiewicz of Richfield, Minn. and Marcella Waldera of Arcadia; five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband and brothers, Joseph and Carroll Kowahl.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 27, 2014 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
