Mark A. Smick, 70, of Galesville, formerly Onalaska, died Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Pine View Care Center, Black River Falls, Wis.
Mark was born August 10, 1943 in Whitehall, to Ralph and Valeria (Walek) Smick. He married Nancy Auer.
Mark was the Associate Dean of Public Safety Services at Western Technical College. He was an avid outdoorsman, amateur radio operator, barber shopper and Knights of Columbus member. He volunteered for many organizations, and was a member of the city council and county board.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; two sons, Douglas (Kathy) and Daniel (Ariane) Smick; three daughters, Natalie (Mark) Timms, Tammy Smick and Colleen (John) Santi; nine grandchildren, Athina, Austin, Logan, Paige, SyEnna, Joslyn, Gina, Maximillian and Eva; brother, Donald (Phyllis) Smick; mother-in-law, Margaret Auer; brother-in-law, Wayne (Kathie) Auer and sister-in-law, Clarina Auer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and brother-in-law.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Onalaska, with burial in Onalaska Public Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service followed by a rosary, at 7:00 p.m., at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
