Allen C. Schank, 71, of Independence, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at his home.
Allen was born on June 4, 1941 to Clarence and Dorothy (Wicka) Schank. He attended SS. Peter and Paul grade school and graduated from Independence High School in 1959. Allen was drafted into the Army in 1964 and was honorably discharged in 1966. He was very proud of his military service. When he returned from the service, he worked on construction for many years. He then worked on the family farm and also owned his own farm.
Allen is survived by Jerome (Marion) Schank, Mary Ann Hergenreder, Henry (Sharon) Schank, Rita (Rudy) Zoromski, Willard (Celeste) Schank, Donald Schank, Elaine (Greg) LeGare and Celine Brandon. He is further survived and well loved by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He will be loved and sorely missed by many family and friends.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Tony Hergenreder; nephew, Darren Zoromski and a niece, Jeanie Schank.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating.
Military rights will be conducted by Sura-Wiersgalla American Legion Post 186 following the service.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
