Monica Rombalski, 95, of Algona, Iowa, formerly of Independence, Wis., died Friday, February 22, 2013 at Algona Good Samaritan Care Center.
She was born April 16, 1917 in Hale Township, Trempealeau County, to Frank and Catherine "Kate" (Roskos) Rombalski. She attended parochial school in Independence and her last two years of high school in Necedah, Wis.
Monica had a lifelong career as a housekeeper for priests from the age of 15 serving in Wisconsin with her brother, Rev. Peter Rombalski and in Iowa since 1952. Monica loved to read and had a personal interest in the care of the altar and vestments of the priests. She also taught C.C.D.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Monica was preceded in death by her parents; four infant brothers; nine brothers, Paul, John, Adolph, Ignatz, Rev. Peter, Clarence, George, Joseph and Frank and two sisters, Clara Kulig and Anna (Sr. Carmella)
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
