Cecelia E. Killian, 86, of Independence, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Tri-County Memorial Hospital, Whitehall.
Cecelia was born November 19, 1926 in Burnside Township, Trempealeau County, to John and Catherine (Kloss) Saverinski. She married Dominic P. Killian November 19, 1947 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. He died January 11, 2002.
Although she did not have children of her own, she impacted many children's lives. She was a very giving person always helping family and friends. Her life was centered on her Catholic faith and giving to everyone else.
Over the years, Cecelia worked as a nanny, in a candy factory in Winona and at Runkel Hardware. She did interior house painting and cleaned houses. She retired from the Independence school district after working there many years. She loved gardening, canning and making rosettes. Prayer was important to her.
She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, its women's organization, banquet committee, funeral luncheon group and rosary society.
Survivors include two brothers, Adolph Saverinski and Alphonse (Patricia) Saverinski both of Independence; two sisters, Agnes Dubiel of Independence and Pelchie (Richard) Rathke of Eau Claire; six Godchildren, John Kokott, Patricia Schultz Hammond, Willie Wiench, Kathy Hestekin, Mary Donnellan and Steve Killian; nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews including Jodi, Elizabeth, Vincent, Margaret and Nora, children of Bernard and Ellen Killian, who spent countless hours with Cecelia.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters, Genevieve Hagenbarth, Felia Kokott and Blanche Killian and a Godchild, Darlene Miles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2013 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
