Edward J. Baecker, 100, of Chippewa Falls, formerly of Independence, was reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife on Thursday, November 15, 2012.
Edward was born October 7, 1912 in Glencoe Township, Buffalo County, to Phillip and Elizabeth (Boland) Baecker. He was one of 11 children, and worked hard on the family farm alongside his father. He worked with the Trempealeau County Civil Conservation Corps. Edward married Romelle Lisowski on January 11, 1944 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Independence, and they were blessed with 64 years of marriage before she died on August 1, 2008. Ed and Romelle purchased the home farm from her parents and farmed there for 24 years. After moving to Independence, Ed was a DeKalb seed corn representative, and also provided transportation for the Mississippi River Human Services Center for 11 years. Ed and Romelle had a large, beautiful garden, and they blessed their family and friends with the produce they raised for many years.
Edward served as Town Chairman for the Town of Montana, Buffalo County, and clerk for the Montana Ridge School Board. He also served on the Buffalo County Board of Supervisors. Ed was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, served on the church council and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Edward and Ken Gallagher worked together and were instrumental in kicking off the first Parish Festival at SS. Peter and Paul.
Edward is survived by his niece, Debra (Ken) Klimek of Chippewa Falls, whom Edward and Romelle raised and loved as their own daughter; a sister, Eileen Mueller of Wabasha; a brother, Gerald (Betty) Baecker of Alma; two grandchildren, Jamie (Shana) Klimek and Nicole (Chad) Dorwin both of Chippewa Falls; four great-grandchildren, Austin, Andrew and Abigail Klimek and Bradley Dorwin. Ed is further survived by several sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Edward was preceded in death by his wife; six brothers, Phillip, Andrew, Walter, Jim, LaVerne and Jerome Baecker; two sisters, Richardine Feuling and Elizabeth Theisen; two great-grandsons, Jacob Gabriel and Carter Michael Dorwin, and many other friends and family who greeted him in Heaven.
Edward was a hard-working, kind man who was a friend to all who knew him. He always had a twinkle in his eye, a smile on his face, and a kind word to brighten your day. Edward lived his 100 years to the fullest, and now is at peace in Heaven, rejoicing with those who have gone before him. Goodbye for now, Grandpa Ed...
