Ernest G. Giemza, 75, of Arcadia, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at his home.
Ernest was born February 22, 1936 in Arcadia Township, Trempealeau County, to Albert and Angeline (Sobotta) Giemza. He married Mary Ann Stanislawski on May 18, 1963 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, North Creek.
Ernest served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Joe Roskos Distributing, was a milk hauler for Pehler Trucking, worked at the Blair Cheese Factory and farmed in North Creek. He enjoyed watching horse pulling events. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1654 in Arcadia.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann of Arcadia; three daughters, Mary Jane (Jon) Olson of Arcadia, Catherine (Mark) Kulig of Columbia, Mo. and Theresa Giemza of Arcadia; three brothers, Dominic Giemza of Arcadia, Albert Giemza Jr. of Independence and Joe Giemza of Arcadia; three sisters, Delores Welciek of White Bear Lake, Minn., Romelle (Loren) Subra of Blair and Mary (Dave) Hestekin of Whitehall; two grandchildren, Noah and Samuel Olson; a step-grandchild, Jonny Olson; two sisters-in-law, Doris Giemza and Jane Giemza, both of Arcadia; many nieces and nephews and his dog, Tippy.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Adrian Giemza; a sister. Elizabeth Giemza and a brother-in-law, George Welciek.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, North Creek, rural Arcadia, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Tickfer-Erickson American Legion Post 17.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary, at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
