Agatha M. Marsolek, 93, of Independence, died Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Tri-County Memorial Nursing Home, Whitehall.
Agatha was born November 14, 1917 in Hale Township, Trempealeau County, to John and Agnes (Jonietz) Halama. She married Clifford L. Marsolek on November 8, 1937 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence. He died October 25, 2005.
The couple farmed 25 years in Elk Creek and moved to Independence in 1962. She worked at Arcadia Furniture and AG Broiler Plant, both in Arcadia, and Gopher Glove in Independence until retirement. Agatha was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, its Women's Organization and Rosary Society.
Agatha enjoyed gardening, embroidery, doing word-search and travelling. She always had baked goods for family and friends. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her four children, Gene J. (special friend, Bev) Marsolek of Independence, Marjorie Ann (David) Pierzina of Arcadia, Nancy M. (Keith) Anderson of Onalaska and Faith A. (Bryon) Crawford of Sparta; a sister, Helen Craig of Hale Corners, Wis.; two sisters-in-law, Verna M. Halama of Independence and Mary Maule of Alma; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Agatha was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson, Randy Marsolek; a great-grandson, Lucas Marsolek; a daughter-in-law, Betty L. Marsolek; six brothers, Albert, George, Tommy, Sylvester, August and Louis Halama; two sisters, Lucy Blaha and Clara Reck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 8-10 a.m. Thursday at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, where there will be a prayer service followed by a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
