Marie Kruchoski Halonen, age 97, formerly of Minneapolis, Minn. died peacefully on September 29, 2011 at the Grand View Care Center, Blair, Wis.
She was born in Minneapolis, Minn. on September 23, 1914 to Joseph and Mary (Wirtz) Wennes. She married George Kruchoski on September 11, 1937. They had three daughters, Elizabeth (Lavern) Pampuch of Independence, Janice (Robert) Lang of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Annette (Roger) Johnson of Eagan, Minn. Her husband preceded her in death on March 19, 1965.
On October 26, 1984, she married John "Al" Halonen, a long-time family friend. They had seven years together spending their time between Minnesota and Arizona. He preceded her in death on August 17, 1991. She later moved to Colorado Springs and then Wisconsin to be closer to family.
Marie was a homemaker and caregiver to family and friends all of her life.
She is survived by her three daughters, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; four stepsons, Bill, John, Gary and Tom Halonen; two stepdaughters, Jane and Carol Halonen; a sister, Eleanor Trottner of Bellingham, Wash; and two sisters-in-law, Lillian Wennes of St. Paul, Minn. and Julia Kruchoski of Chisholm, Minn.
A brother, Joseph L. Wennes and a stepson, Richard Halonen preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2011 at Ft. Snelling Memorial Chapel, Historic Ft. Snelling, Highways 5 & 55, Ft. Snelling, Minn. with Rev. Dennis Frank officiating. Burial will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until services at the chapel.
