Bernard R. Giemza

Bernard R. Giemza, 89, of Arcadia, died Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Arcadia. Bernard was born in North Creek to Frank and Elizabeth (Swietz) Giemza on February 3, 1922. Elizabeth passed away in 1927. Bernard and his brother, Conrad, were raised by Elizabeth’s brother, Albert Swietz, on the farm Bernard owns in North Creek. Bernard was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church where he served as an usher and bell ringer. Bernard enjoyed his chickens for many years, giving all his eggs away to his favorite neighbors and friends as well as his large gardens that produced goodies for his friends and neighbors. He had a heart of gold that will be missed by all of his special people in his life that loved and cared for him. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ralph, Conrad and Ollie and a sister, Marian. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, North Creek, rural Arcadia, with Rev. Gilbert Hingone officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to St. Michael’s Church.
