INDEPENDENCE – Marcus R. Kuka, 82, of Independence, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.
Marcus was born September 18, 1928 in Burnside Township, Trempealeau County, to Frank and Pelchie (Klink) Kuka. He married Loretta M. Klimek September 18, 1950 in Arcadia.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta of Independence; four children, Beverly (Norman) Hoch of Arcadia, David (Rita) Kuka of Independence, Duane (Sandra) Kuka of Taylor, Betty (Allan) Baker of Arcadia; nine grandchildren, Paul (Michelle), Sara and Laura Hoch, Dawn, Danielle, Andrew and Dana Kuka, Michael and Mark Baker; two great-grandchildren, Lucas Hoch and Jasmine Robinson.
Marcus was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Sobotta Weltzien; a brother, Roman Kuka; a granddaughter, Gwen Hoch and a grandson, Seth Kuka.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday and 8-10 a.m. Saturday at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, where there will be a prayer service followed by a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
