INDEPENDENCE – Evelyn Gamroth, 85, of Independence, died Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Tri-County Memorial Nursing Home, Whitehall.
She was born June 1, 1925 in Arcadia, to Michael and Pauline (Lisowski) Waldera. She married Omar Severson in Arcadia. He died March 1, 1960. She married Gerald Gamroth in Ettrick. He died March 23, 2004.
Evelyn worked at Gopher Glove in Independence, Arcadia Furniture and Independence Cabinet Factory. Evelyn and Gerald owned and operated the Independence Hotel-Tap for several years. Evelyn enjoyed bowling, fishing, and was an avid gardener. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include five children, Julie (Linus) Adank of Winona, Annette (James) Bautch of Neillsville, Theodore (Ann) Severson of Taylor, Jackie (Kevin) Rongstad of Pleasantville and Shannon (Brett) Pohle of Neillsville; a sister, Delores Kulig of Independence; three brothers, Dick (Sis) Waldera, Linus (Sue) Waldera and Larry Waldera all of Taylor; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husbands; an infant son, Michael; a sister, six brothers, a grandson and a great-grandson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Arcadia, at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary at Edison Funeral Home, Independence, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
