Richard Dabelstein, 72, of rural Fountain City, died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare in Arcadia.
He was born March 18, 1938 in Arcadia Township to Henry and Emma (Kube) Dabelstein. He worked at various factories during younger days and was a painter of cars and tractors and a mechanic most of his life.
He married Verna Gierok and was later divorced. He married Adeline Jurowski Slabik in 1973.
Survivors include his wife, Adeline; two daughters, Dawn (Virgil) Perry of Blair and Marilyn (Hal Boe) Dabelstein of Trempealeau; step-daughter, Bernadine Slabik (Jerome) Waldera of Arcadia; two grandchildren, Nickol Lessman (Shane) Giacomino of Loyal, Wis., and Travis (Rachel) Lessman of Mondovi; five great-grandchildren, Dalton, Carter and Dillon Lessman, Hanna and Sara Giacomino; three step-grandchildren, Toni (Eric) Sonsalla of Arcadia, Jennifer (Josh) Willis of Onalaska and Natalie Waldera of Arcadia; three step-great-grandchildren, Chandler and Whitney Sonsalla and Payton Willis; three sisters, Janice Fink of Arcadia, Josie (Leonard) Robinson of Osseo and Bonnie (Rick) Linberg of Black River Falls; nieces, nephews and Hal’s children, Brandon and Kaitlyn Boe.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Glenn; a brother, David and brother-in-law, Roger Fink.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence with Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
